Martin Williamson

Martin Williamson graduated in Mechanical Engineer at the University of Cape Town. He started his reliability career working in the mining industry where he was responsible for condition monitoring, specialising in oil analysis and Tribology.

In 1994, Martin joined Pall Filtration, where he provided technical support on their contamination monitoring instruments to clients in a wide range of industries.

Later, he joined Entek IRD to work with product management of their oil analysis tools and providing technical support, including training on oil analysis to international clients.

For the last 20 years, Martin has

conducted on-site training and undertaking consulting projects on a global level on behalf of Noria Corp and other key clients such as BP, Dow Corning, Marathon Oil and Cargill.

Martin has a CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) status with SMRP (Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals). As such, he has been involved with ICML (International Council for Machinery Lubrication) and participating in various related ISO working groups.

Forty years engineering and commercial experience in Mechanical & Marine Engineering of which the last 26 years have been spent working in Asia.

Marine Engineering apprenticeship with Shell Tankers in late 1978 followed by a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Salford in 1985 provided me with the ideal launch pad into Power Transmission Design and Development with Flexibox International now John Crane designing their Industrial Coupling range and resulting in a Patent GB2217431A.

Founded RO-QUIP Asia Pacific Pte Ltd

in 2001 to drive and support some of the Worlds’ leading Contamination Control brands in Asia-Pacific. Further, in partnership with KEW Engineering, we provide RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) through lubrication solutions and Contamination Control training based around the ICML (International Council for Machinery Lubrication) body of knowledge to corporations and individuals.

A former Chair of IMechE (Institute of Mechanical Engineers) Singapore Branch, Chartered Marine Engineer, CMarEng and Member of IMarEst (Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology), IMarEst based in Singapore, I look forward to supporting your needs in interactive training and professional development across Asia-Pacific.

Frank Missel

During the nineties, Frank was part of the group that created the first CRM system in Denmark (DTM), and he has worked for more than 25 years in roles as support manager, developer and systems architect, implementing the CRM, Helpdesk and Business Intelligence systems in a number of large Scandinavian corporations, such as Scandinavian Airlines Systems, Nykredit, ISS, Canon Denmark as well as Statoil.

Frank thus has broad experience in systems and database development covering areas such as CRM, helpdesk, data integration, Business Intelligence and web applications.

Aaron Said

Aaron Said is the Head of Technical at International Lubricant Distributors (ILD) in Australia, where he leads initiatives to improve equipment reliability through world-class lubrication practices. He works closely with clients to unlock operational gains by maximising lubricant performance, improving efficiency, and implementing robust oil condition monitoring programmes.

With over two decades of industry experience, Aaron is highly credentialed, holding certifications from both Society of Tribologist and Lubrication Engineer (STLE) and International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML). These include Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS), Oil Monitoring Analyst (OMA), Machine Lubricant Analyst (MLA) I, II & III, Machinery Lubrication Technician (MLT) I & II, and Machinery Lubrication Engineer (MLE) accreditations.

Aaron is a contributor to the lubrication

and reliability community. He has presented at regional industry conferences such as the and has authored technical content for respected publications including Machinery Lubrication and Precision Lubrication. He also served as a Technical Editor for Tribology & Lubrication Technology (TLT), the official magazine of STLE, reaching over 15,000 lubrication professionals globally.

He holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Sheffield and master’s degree in Advanced Computational Methods for Aeronautics, Flow Management and Fluid-Structure Interaction from Imperial College London.

Paul Xuereb

Paul Xuereb brings decades of specialised experience in mechanical seal design, application engineering, and commercial development across the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Petrochemical, Offshore, Power, and Mining sectors.

He began his career as a Mechanical Detail Draftsman with a reputable mechanical seal company while completing his Mechanical Engineering studies part-time. Later, he transitioned into a Sales and Applications role, where he played a key part in expanding the Australian operation during a significant growth phase.

During this time, Paul supported major industrial clients including BASF, Dow Chemicals, BF Goodrich, Hoechst Chemicals, Altona Petrochemical Company, Petroleum Australia Company, Australian Synthetic Rubber, Commercial Polymers, and Australian Vinyl’s.

Over the decades, Paul has developed

extensive hands-on expertise in field service, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and performance optimisation of mechanical seals in demanding environments. He has worked extensively across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to both Greenfield developments and Brownfield upgrades, ensuring reliability, compliance, and operational efficiency.

He has delivered numerous specialised training programs for Reliability Engineers, Project Engineers, Process Engineers, and Plant Operators. His Mechanical Seal Course is highly regarded for its practical focus and real-world application, covering seal fundamentals, seal arrangements, API piping plans, materials selection, seal support systems, installation best practices, and advanced troubleshooting methodologies.

Haslinah is the Educational Advisor at Uptime101, drawing upon an extensive background of having taught and helped graduating, young adult students to excellent exam results as well as mentored other teachers. She is bilingual in English and Malay.

Haslinah graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English Linguistics & Education from the University of Wollongong in Australia. Since then she has worked for many years as a teacher of English and Mathematics, focusing on the graduating classes.

At Yishun Town Secondary School, she developed the school’s values-based curriculum, and as senior teacher, she created a structured mentoring programme for teacher mentors, in which she guided both young and experienced teachers in their professional and personal growth.

Danny is a dynamic and motivated engineering professional who demonstrates competence in delivering continuous improvement strategies for companies in respect of Maintenance Management, Reliability Strategy Development, Goal Definition, Asset Management, Condition, Performance Monitoring and Training.

The lubrication, oil analysis and asset management tie-up is central to his nearly 40 years in the industry, having worked from age 16 first for an industrial lubricant manufacturer where he cut his teeth in general engineering and then lubricant performance testing using 4-ball, Timken, FZG, etc. plus bespoke rig development for MOD applications and fire-resistant fluid development.

Working later within the Marine

classification and Technical Investigations of a major society he became involved with training and international standards development. He is actively involved within national accreditation bodies in the UK and US and can offer certification in accordance with and compliance with ISO 18436 pt4 which is the internationally recognized standard for persons involved in oil analysis and oil-based condition monitoring.

A highly adaptive performer, more recently he was awarded the BiNDT* COMADIT Prize for contribution to society via Condition Monitoring in the marine sector, he is a real leader in his chosen field. He enjoys active participation within ISO TC108 SC5 as UK expert for lubricant analysis; he is also a member of various international Condition Monitoring and Asset Management committees and a regular presenter at technical conferences and forums internationally. As a certified asset management practitioner with outstanding technical knowledge, he has amassed career experience within the marine and associated industries.

Per Arnold is amongst the most knowledgeable bearing specialists in the world, having decades of experiences in all stages of the bearing life cycle from his professional career:

  • Product Development & Specification at SKF headquarters in Sweden
  • Quality & Product Specification at the SKF factory in Mexico
  • As Technical Service Manager and Reliability Service Manager of SKF in Mexico

Since 2004 Per Arnold has worked as an independent consultant in all aspects of reliability of bearings, helping a number of companies worldwide and thus earning the nickname "The Bearing Doctor."

While working as a manager at SKF

in Mexico, Per Arnold achieved certificates of Zero Defects from several customers, implementing the change from Quality Control to Quality Assurance. He has since perfected the knowledge gained from this experience as the concept of Bearing Reliability Assurance. The key is to focus on avoiding rather than detecting failures, and Per Arnold is helping customers in a wide range of industries to implement the concept by training them in Defect Elimination during the different stages of the Bearing Life Cycle.

Per Arnold graduated in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Gothenburg. Since then he attended multiple courses within SKF and certified with distinction at the Technical Service Course at the SKF College in the Netherlands.

Per Arnold will be offering the the full range of courses concerning Bearing Reliability Assurance at Uptime101, starting with Bearing Failure Root Cause Analysis. Following that, will be courses covering the main failure causes in more detail. The first of these will naturally be Lubrication of Bearings, the wrong application of which is the reason behind more than 55% of bearing failures experienced, according to most statistics .

Kazuyasu Izawa

Izawa-san holds a PhD in the field of fluid power control. He participated in research as project associate on contamination sensitivity of hydraulic components in several projects at Fluid Power Research Center of Oklahoma State University, in the US.

While a technical marketing manager at Nihon Pall Ltd, Izawa-san joined fluid power standard development activity at the ISO contamination control subcommittee as well as JIS (Japan Industrial Standards) development for the Japan Fluid Power Association.

After leaving Nihon Pall Ltd, Izawa-san started to offer contamination control and lubrication management training as an independent consultant. He has published more than 100 technical papers to fluid power society, association and fluid power magazines and was certified MLA II in 2012.

Hurlel G. Elliot

Hurlel is a private consultant for Global Turbomachinery Solutions LLC with over 40 plus years of diversified mechanical engineering experience specialising in rotating equipment. He was awarded Life Fellow status by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2013 and is a former staff rotating equipment engineer for ExxonMobil and Shell Oil.

He has held leadership assignments in Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada, and the United States. His engineering background covers turnaround planning & execution, construction, engineering design, equipment reliability audits & improvements, vibration analysis & troubleshooting, maintenance, commissioning, and startups.

Hurlel holds Ordinary & Higher National Certificates (ONC and HNC)

in electrical engineering from the Union of Lancashire & Cheshire Institutes, the UK, BSc(Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the West Indies and is a graduate of The Royal Military Academy - Sandhurst, the UK. He has authored or co-authored several technical papers including the book “Compressor Technology Advances: Beyond 2020”.

Hurlel and Heinz were collaborating on a project prior to the latter's demise in 2022. In honour of the industry legend, Hurlel will continue the work of Heinz based on his materials.

Heinz P. Bloch

Heinz resided in Montgomery, Texas. His professional career commenced in 1962 and included long-term assignments as Exxon Chemical’s Regional Machinery Specialist for the United States. He authored or co-wrote over 780 publications, among them 24 comprehensive books on practical machinery management, failure analysis, failure avoidance, compressors, steam turbines, pumps, oil mist lubrication, and optimised lubrication for industry.

He taught technical courses to operators and technical personnel for over 40 years in locations that included cities in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America.

Heinz graduated with BSc. and MSc degrees (cum laude) from NCE, Newark College of Engineering. He

was an ASME Life Fellow and was granted life-time registration as a Professional Engineer in New Jersey. In 2019 he became one of 10 inaugural inductees into NCE’s Hall of Fame, which honors its most distinguished graduates.
